Tadpoles, frogs, caterpillars, butterflies, and you and me!
Tadpoles and frogs…
A tadpole is a frog baby that morphs into a new lifestyle. But you know that.
Creation.com says, “This amazing transformation (metamorphosis) is a lot more than skin deep. Virtually every organ and body system is radically reworked. …
“… multiple layers upon layers of processes all mobilised to complete this ‘change in life.’”
Wikipedia says, “Most tadpoles are herbivorous and during metamorphosis the mouth and internal organs are rearranged to prepare for an adult carnivorous lifestyle.”
Tadpoles morph into a new, frog lifestyle. A new way of getting around in their world. A new way of communicating and behaving. A new appetite.
Caterpillars and butterflies…
Depending on the species, some cocoon casings can be hard so as to protect them from predators and extreme weather conditions.
The caterpillar goes into its sequestered state. Inside that protective covering, the caterpillar appears lifeless, yet it begins to transform itself. And while the outside of its covering is unattractive, beauty is taking place on the inside.
When its time of transformation is concluded, the caterpillar goes through a struggle to emerge, to return to life. A picture of resurrection. From crawling on its stomach in the dirt and struggling to come out of its cocoon, it can now fly.
Caterpillars have a new lifestyle. No longer encased and earthbound A new way of getting around in their world. A new way of communicating and behaving. They have a new appetite. Something new to feed on.
…and you and me!
On occasion, we spin our own cocoon from the difficulties around us. And sometimes, the Lord encases us. We don’t understand why. But the Lord knows transformation must take place. And we cannot wiggle to get out of it. God’s hand holds us there, protecting us from predators and extreme conditions.
To have the beautiful wings of His design, we must wait His timing. Until our soul feels the release of the Lord’s hand, we stay bundled in the darkness.
And when it’s time, we have this new “change in life,” for “the old life is gone; a new life has begun.” (2 Cor. 5:17 NLT)
New creations. A lot more than skin deep. Every part of us, “multiple layers upon layers,” radically reworked. Just like the frog and the butterfly. Changed from the inside out.
No longer thinking the same. No longer acting the same. We have new legs to steady us and wings to flight us to places unknown. A new lifestyle. A new way of communicating and behaving. A mouth rearranged to not talk the same.
A new appetite. Something new to feed on. God’s Word! “And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him.” (2 Cor. 3:18b TLB)
Take a cue from the butterfly: a symbol of resurrection. May we be radically and heavenly reworked from the inside out, as “dying in order to flourish.” (True You: Letting Go of Your False Self to Uncover the Person God Created by Michelle DeRusha)
Since we live this new life, we wait in anticipation for the transformation into that new, heavenly body.
May you blessed in your transformation waiting…Lynn
