Oh, how the Lord’s heart must ache from the desecration and destruction of His creations, by His creations…
…as His eyes look down upon all the carnage in the world committed by those He created
…the bloodshed, the butchering and slaughtering of human life, the warfare and crime
…seeing lives turned into shambles
…watching anger set life against life
…observing lives made in His image being marred by impure passions
…seeing the loss of innocence, the addictions, mankind clamoring for independence and superiority, pride and selfishness.
Oh, how He must shake His head…
…as His ears hear the deafening sound of all His commandments being broken, the disobedience of His Word
…heeding the cries of suffering from those forced to endure the bullying and abuse of another
…listening to the whining and complaining, the gossiping and lying, of those He loves and cares for.
And, oh, how the Lord’s heart must pound with disappointment over the disobedient and throb in agony for all those who have yet to call Him Father.
And what of human hearts? When our hearts desire to be as one with the Lord’s heart, they will swell with anguish and sorrow as well. However, with so many disasters and tragedies…
…a human heart becomes overwhelmed with sadness
…overwhelmed by the world’s lack of respect and kindness
…overwhelmed by a lack of integrity, a lack of honesty, a lack of moral character, all displayed in every area of society.
So crushing, at times, that God’s children have a deep, haunting ache for the many hurting hearts around the world and weep for the devastation of floods and earthquakes, divorce and death.
Hearts beating, as the Lord’s, with tender pity. Hearts aching for grace and mercy, for themselves, their families, their friends, and others.
Hearts that desire to see as the Lord sees. For He is the Man of Sorrows, the King of love, the Giver of joy, and peace, and encouragement.
He is the Man with glowing eyes as flames of fire. With hair white as snow.
The Man with gleaming feet as polished bronze. With a voice as thunderous as a waterfall.
The Man with seven stars in His hand. With a sharp two-edged sword in His mouth.
The Man with a beaming face, shining as the brilliance of the noonday sun.
Oh, how this Man yearns to be the Savior of every living soul. This Man longs to lift every soul up out of the pit of despair. This Man desires to fill each soul with His grace and blessings.
This Man, who weeps over His loved ones who are hurting, also rejoices in that future day of celebration.
For this Man yearns to return for His beloved bride, to whisk her off to eternity with Him. This Man is as anxious as a racehorse at the starting gate…eager, impatient to bolt out, to fetch His precious, betrothed beauty.
This Son of Man and Son of God pines, “How long shall I have the patience? How long must I wait?” But soon, His Father will shout, “Go!” and the world will know the Truth.
May your heart, as it aches over this world’s circumstances, also rejoice that the future day of celebration is drawing ever closer.
“As for me – Lord, you know my heart – you know how much it longs for you.” (Jer. 12:3 TLB) So on that day, this heart of mine will no longer be troubled with this world, and I shall see Him for myself, and I shall fall at His feet and worship Him…forever.
“…this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!” (Job 19:26-27 NKJV)
