Fresh Prints

July 17, 2014 By Lynn H Mosher

Fresh prints

To hear His loving whispers, to sense His holy nearness, to feel the gentle caress of His hand upon your heart and soul?

If you long for this, sit quietly in His presence. Breathe in the fragrance of His love. Allow His mighty fingers to gently massage your aching and saddened heart, to soothe your tired and battered soul.

Sometimes, we do not understand “the operation of His hands.”
(Ps. 28:5b NKJV) Many times, we cringe, thinking God is about to slap us down for something we’ve done. But His hand is not for slapping, not for squeezing the last drop of life out of us. His hand is for reverently and gently placing His fingerprints upon us.

When the world comes crashing down on a life, the human heart craves…

…to be loved, unconditionally
…to be accepted, without reservation
…to be understood, without condemnation
…comfort in times of stress, grief, and affliction
…peace
…strength to cope
…joy in spite of turmoil
…forgiveness
…fulfillment for its emptiness
…tenderness when the world is unlovely
…encouragement for those days filled with woes
…confidence and calm when fear attacks
…soothing for the frustrations of life
…provision for all needs
…protection from evil
…power to fight the enemy
…shelter in the storm
…refreshment in those parched times
…an intimate relationship and the revelation of that loved One’s heart
…to be welcomed Home into the Everlasting Arms.
(The Human Heart Craves)

But if we do not sit silent and still in His presence, we will never experience the infilling of what our heart craves.

God jealously longs for those moments with us as well
, that we would turn to Him and rest in His presence. He longs to touch our life with His grace and beauty and leave fresh imprints on our heart and soul, to breathe a mist of heaven’s glory into our life and have that moment etched in our memory.

God said to those on the Mount of Transfiguration, “Listen to Him.” (Matt. 17:5b NLT) When we haven’t listened to Him in a while, those imprints fade. Life encroaches upon us. We long for fresh imprints, to be touched again with the caress of His caring hands, His fingerprints of peace, grace, forgiveness, and sufficiency for our needs impressed upon our life.

As I said last time, in case you missed it,

, to sit in His presence and allow Him to press fresh prints on your heart and soul with those precious whispers of His Spirit? Do you detect God’s fingerprints during those times of doubt, heartache, and trials?

My prayer and I hope yours as well…

Lord, leave Your precious fingerprints all over my heart and soul that I may strive to live a life reflecting Your life in all I say and do, that I may leave loving fingerprints on the hearts and souls of others, fingerprints that resemble Yours. Amen!
