Outside: Darkness rolls in. Hovering black clouds appear ominous, even though it’s early morning.
Inside: She stands by the window, feeling the darkness hovering over her soul.
Outside: Summer showers fall, hydrating the dryness of the flowerbeds.
Inside: She watches as the showers turn into a downpour, as tears freely stream down her cheeks.
Outside: The darkness intensifies. The clouds bump into each other, releasing claps of thunderous sounds.
Inside: Inside her heart, the dark clouds of gloom bump into each other, releasing their noisy clashes of thunder upon her soul.
Outside: The world rushes by, uncaring, unfeeling.
Inside: She feels the same. She prays, “God, it’s raining so hard in my life. No one seems to care. Where do I go from here? What do You want me to do? This all needs to be fixed. The downpour is more than I can bear. My heart trembles in this intense suffering.”
And in the quiet room, she feels the Lord speak to her…
My child, when the rains of difficulty come and bring the gloom of night, absorb all you can from them. They water the parchness of your life. Learn what I teach you in their midst. Sometimes, I use these trials so others may see a life that praises Me in the rain and for the rain. This way, you can help give tender care to others who have been burdened as you have. Your rain of darkness will soon be turned to blessings. I am working on your behalf…always. Just praise Me in the process. Remember these words of the old song:
I have learned to smile when skies are gloomy,
Smile although my heart’s about to break;
When I know that trouble’s coming to me,
Here’s the happy attitude I take.
Though April showers may come your way,
They bring the flowers that bloom in May.
So if it’s raining, have no regrets,
Because it isn’t raining rain you know, it’s raining violets.
Trust Me to bring blessings of violets.
Outside: The rain begins to subside. The sun peeks out through the dark clouds.
Inside: A slight smile crosses her face. The Light of the Lord shines in her darkness. She knows the Lord is in charge and things will work out as she remembers Romans 8:28. She feels God’s presence refreshing her dry soul. And she begins to praise the Lord.
Though dark clouds of gloom roll over our lives, we praise the Lord. I’ve said this before…
When chaos invades my world, do I still claim His peace and praise Him? Yes, indeedy! For “I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of His glories and grace.” (Ps. 34:1 TLB) Amen!
And when the enemy swirls his darkness around me and attempts to discourage or frighten me, do I still trust the Lord? You betcha! I say as David said, “But when I am afraid, I will put my confidence in You. Yes, I will trust the promises of God. And since I am trusting Him, what can mere man do to me?” (Ps. 56:3-4 TLB)
Have you ever worked on a surprise party for someone you love, trying to work out all the details and keep things secret? God does that for us when we release our burdens into His mighty hands.
So many things must be arranged in order to work out the situations we hand Him. And hiding behind the veil of heaven, God’s hands of workmanship manage our lives for eternity.
If dark clouds of gloom hover over your life today, with lots of noisy bumping is going on, trust that God is working on a surprise of violets just for you. So praise Him!
