Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could ask Mary, the mother of Jesus, any question about her baby Son? If you could, what would it be? Maybe you would ask…
Mary, what did you sing to your baby boy, the one who would, in a time to come, be the King of kings?
*What soft lullabies did you hum to Him?
*What songs of worship did you lift up to Him?
Mary, what did you see in His dark eyes, eyes that would someday look into another’s soul?
*Could you peer into the future darkness of His enemy’s temptations? Could you foresee the Light of Life bringing victory?
*Could you envision the tears He would shed for His friends, for His beloved Jerusalem, for the world?
Mary, what did you notice in His tiny hands, hands that one day would be callused from learning his father’s trade?
*Could you detect the pain His hands would endure as nails pierced His flesh?
*Could you conceive of those hands being lifted up in praise to His heavenly Father?
Mary, what did you behold in those little, baby arms, arms that would eventually fling out in power to calm a storm’s aggression or to call forth life from a death-tomb?
*Could you imagine arms that would embrace those He loved and welcome even those who didn’t love Him?
*Could you ever dream the arms of God hugging your neck?
Mary, what did you sense when you gently caressed His sweet, baby face, a face that would be held up high in innocence as He encountered a guilty verdict?
*Could you foretell the future anger scrunching it up at the selling of merchandise in His Father’s house?
*Could you discover the smiles and laughter He would share with His disciples? With you?
Mary, what did you wish for when you gently stroked His little knees, knees that would never bend to opposition?
*Could you look into the years ahead and witness them bent so many times in prayer to the Father who sent Him?
*Could you know they would bend in humility to serve others?
Mary, what did you discern when you kissed His teeny feet, feet that would water-walk the turbulent waves of a stormy sea?
*Could you believe the miles and miles of dust that would accumulate between the toes of His sandled feet?
*Could you comprehend those feet would carry the message of Good News of forgiveness and salvation to all those who would listen?
Mary, what did you think when you felt His heart beating in His chest, a heart that would be filled with unconditional love?
*Could you ever imagine a heart so loving and caring?
*Could you ever dream that it would beat for a lost world and would be broken over His rejection by those He tried to save?
Mary, how much did you love this Manger Babe as you cuddled Him so close to your heart?
*Could you have known you could love so much, so deeply, and yet, one day cry in agony over Him?
*Could you have known how much more He would love you, that He would even die for you?
Oh, Mary, did you know?
Mary blessings to you…Lynn
