And I caught a glimpse of glory bright.
He showed me the beauty of a city –
Of that which had no night.
Its walls were made of the rarest jasper.
Its streets were paved with the purest gold.
Each gate was fashioned from just one pearl.
Its beauty was beyond what could be told.
Then I heard a sound like a roar of thunder,
And a vast host fell down to sing their refrains –
“Praise to the holy One Who sits on the throne.
Hallelujah! The Lord God reigns!”
The One that reigned was truly the King.
Many jeweled crowns encircled His head.
He was dressed in a robe stained with blood,
That for salvation He had shed.
His eyes flashed as though fiery flames.
His face glowed as the noon-day sun.
His voice sounded as many waters
That flowed before time had begun.
He came riding upon a white stallion;
He was the Savior throughout all the ages.
Within His hands rested the Book of life,
Those who loved Him lined its pages.
Then He said, “I shall soon come upon you,
As a thief comes quickly in the night.
I shall bring with Me wages and rewards
For those who have loved Me and done right.”
“I am coming to wage war on unholiness,
And pay back to all for what they are due.
Many are those who have been called,
But the holy who enter will truly be few.”
The One called Faithful then turned to me and said,
“If you have a cleansed garment, you will not be denied.”
“Behold, I stand at the gate to welcome you in.”
“So, come,” says the Spirit to the bride.
I then awoke from my heavenly vision,
Into eternity I had been granted a look.
I knew I would join in the throngs of that city –
For my name was inscribed in that book.
