Lovely aroma. Wonderful taste, to many. Yucky to others.
Time to make that lovely aroma swim around the kitchen.
So, I rinse out the plastic filter.
I’m amused at the splattering of the coffee in the sink.
If I hold the filter up close to the water at the end of the faucet, the grounds splash out in all directions.
If I hold the filter down at sink level, the grounds barely disperse.
I cock my head. Interesting.
Lord, is my life like this filter?
Let’s suppose. If…
Filter = us
Coffee = God’s Word
Grounds = God’s Word in us
Water from the faucet = God/Jesus/Holy Spirit
Distance from the faucet = up close or far away from God
Does our filter-life contain the Word of God? How much?
How close do we get to the Lord? Are we up close so we can overflow in all directions with His Word, His presence, His love, His peace?
Or are we at a distance, away from the outpouring of His presence, and consequently, we don’t possess much to pour out to others?
We are to share the Lord with those that cross our path, to spread His love wherever we can. But if we have not drawn near the Lord, to the source of that refreshing Water of Life, the outpouring will be little.
How close you are to the Lord determines what pours out of you to others.
Is your filter-life full of God’s Word and up close to His outpouring presence?
***Sweet readers, I won’t be able to post for the next week or so as I’m having my site worked on. Saying a prayer of encouragement for you all until we meet again!
