Abandoned?

October 13, 2014 By Lynn H Mosher

Abandoned building
Coming across a topic, whether text, image, or whatever, is happenstance. Twice is probably a coincidence. But more than twice? Not a coincidence to me.

I came across some of these images, several times. And I became fascinated by them. I started digging into abandoned places and was amazed at the number of images I found. It was difficult to pare them down to share with you.

As I stared at them, some seemed sad…

Amusement park
Six Flags/New Orleans

…some abandoned and overgrown…
Abandoned house
Secret garden

…some shipwrecked and abandoned…

…some abandoned and falling apart…

…some abandoned, lacking the touch of music of life…

…some sunken and abandoned…

…some thoughts and ideas abandoned…

…some abandoned and the elements moved in…

…some abandoned and even eerie…

…some neglected, abandoned, and sad…
Abandoned church

…some abandoned to a lifetime underwater…

I began to internalize them. Do I ever feel abandoned? Is there no joy in my life? Do I feel overgrown with life’s weeds, shipwrecked, falling apart, lacking the music of life? Am I sinking under the weight of daily hardships or drowning in circumstantial waters?

Maybe you’re feeling like some of these images. Maybe your life is filled with pressures and trials, with heartaches and afflictions. Whatever you are feeling right now, the Lord is with you. He is in those deep waters of agony with you. He says…

“And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
(Matt. 28:20 NLT)

The Lord stands there, arms opened wide, ready to receive you. He will never fail you. He will never abandon you. He says…

“I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
(Heb. 13:5 NLT)

Interesting images, Lynn. I was fascinated as a child driving up the coast of Oregon. There seemed an inordinately large number of abandoned and falling-down barns there. I would imagine the owners and why they had left them.

    Loved the message today, Lynn.

Oh, yes! Old barns have always fascinated me. I guess because part of my childhood was spent on a self-sufficient farm. So there were numerous barns. But those old ones, leaning, holey, falling apart ones, they’re so interesting. And do make one wonder about them. Thanks, Carol! xoxox
